I’m A 20yr Old Male And Want To Start Eating Healthier And Getting In Shape, Can You Give Me Some Suggestions?

I am a 20 year old male about 165lbs and I am out of shape. I eat a good amount of fast food, although I have cut down on eating it as much lately. I drink to much pop which I know is terrible for you. Can I substitute Gatorade for Pop? What other foods should I eat that are more healthy for me? Any insight would be great Thanks guys.

Water is good for all times of the day, Gatorade should only drank when you are working out. Its designed for that, not for casual drinking, which is where water comes in. There is “flavored” water, but most of it tastes terrible in my opinion, and you will want to drink more water once you start drinking it, you just have to pull through the “withdrawal” phase.
Also, running is a good place to start.

Eating right is important, but so is not getting bogged down with the details of it. I’ve known people who make it a goal to eat right, then start to obsess over whatever eating right means to them. They stuck with it for a couple of weeks, then gradually got tired of it and started eating crap like fast food regularly again.
As long as a person isn’t running against a consistent, long ranged dietary deficiency, I think that no harm will be done.
With a daily vitamin mineral pill and at least some protein and carbohydrates, I don’t think people have too much to worry about in the short run as they lose weight, as long as their PCPs or others say go for it. People just aren’t that fragile.

Getting in shape and staying in shape happens when you make small choices everyday. It is a lifestyle.
Drinking soda (whether it is diet or not) is generally not good for you. But, rather than deny yourself maybe you can schedule your soda drinking. Most people have a tendency to do or eat something that they are denied or not allowed to do. How about drinking soda once a week instead of everyday? Eventually, you can phase it out- if you want to. Small progress made daily adds up to significant gains and accomplishes your goals of living a healthier lifestyle.
You should workout. I would highly recommend that you use free weights especially doing squats, bench presses, and dead lifts (these are the power lifts). Try circuit training your cardio-type of training. For example, you can use a treadmill and vary your speed. Walk for 2 minutes, the jog lightly for 2 minutes, then run hard for a minute, then jog lightly for 2 minutes, then run hard for a minute,. . . do this for about 20-23 minutes. You will get a better workout than just walking or running at a single speed. As far as running, it is important to push yourself for a short period. You will continue to burn calories long after the exercise is over.
Before you do this, check with your doctor.
This is a start. This is a new beginning for you.
    Good Luck.

Yo sup man, aight heres what you gotta do. Get a muscle magazine like. . Muscle fitness, follow a workout program and usually they have diet articles in there. 6-8 small meals a day with sufficient protein and carbs will help you out. Diet is extremely important when it comes to gainnig muscle and losing fat. Eat healthy things, for example: Brown rice, Chicken, Beef, Tunafish, whole wheat bread, assorted fruits, vegetables, potatoes, steak, spaghetti, etc. DO NOT EAT FRIED FOODS. Drink plenty of water, it helps clear your skin up and you will stay hydrated. To much sugar will wear you out.

try Vitamin water, it has the same taste and more healthy, or propel water. Eat alot of fiber, Oh i drink diet teas since i dont trust pills. IT flushes out your days weight. 8 cups of water a day too is recomended. Start going to a gym i no how that sounds “i dont have time” “its too hard” start slow run for 20 minutes on a tread mill then 2 weeks later 30 minutes the 2 more weeks 40 minutes. Anything like this helps. Watch your carbs and calories

If you can, forgo all drinks that aren’t water. Water is the only thing you should be drinking.
